I am Communication Studies doctoral candidate, writing my dissertation on Remix Culture and I am currently reading (and citing) your book on mashups and configurable culture. I enjoy it greatly! This reading led me to your blog.

Coincidentally, I have been assigned a special topics course this Summer entitled "Music and Communication." I am focusing units of it to musical form, music as rhetoric (and vice versa), music and technology, music and emotion/feeling/affect (using readings from Susanne Langer, Sellnow & Sellnow, etc.) and so forth. I noticed your syllabus above and appreciate the readings you use in your course. You mention that you substantially revamped this syllabus from the class you taught as a grad student. Are there any essential readings that you used when you taught that class that you would recommend that aren't listed above?

Thanks for your help!

Lucas

I want to take this class.
